TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School junior varsity girls’ softball team brought their A-game to the home field against the Cheyenne South Lady Bison in a double-header on Monday, April 22.

Opening the evening on a high note, the Lady Blazers  defeated the Lady Bison in the first game, 8-2. Cheyenne South attempted to rally in the second game, but a tenacious Torrington offense and defense kept the Lady Bison in check and Torrington posted the win, 5-4.

Sophomore Kennedy Reinhardt excelled from the pitcher’s mound in the first game, striking out 12 over the course of five innings.

The Lady Blazer offense set the pace in the bottom of the first inning when sophomore Skyla Wunder batted in two runs with a single drive. Freshman Aftyn Hager hit a double while fellow freshman Jayden Chilson made a bunt.

Torrington widened its lead in the fifth inning with the Lady Blazers scoring five runs on singles by Wunder, junior Emilee Moats and sophomore Sinai Hernandez.

Reinhardt, Junior Madix McIntosh and freshman Macauley McIntosh also contributed a hit apiece during the first game.

Reinhardt pitched for three innings in the second game. Madix McIntosh stepped up to the mound as relief for the fourth and fifth innings.

On defense, junior Hope Hager fielded several deep hits by Cheyenne South that resulted in outs in the second game.

The THS softball team is back in action for an away dougle-header against Wheatland on May 6.
