Wilma was born August 15, 1944, in Torrington to William and Myrl (Cooper) Abel. She grew up and attended K-12 in Veteran and graduated from high school in 1962. Right after graduating she married Richard “Dick” Keller in Torrington on May 27, 1962. To this union, three children were born: William Kerry Keller, Duane Lee Keller and Suzanne Rae Keller. The couple raised their children on their farm in Veteran until they sold and moved to Torrington in 1985.
Wilma was a very devoted family woman. She loved supporting her children in their many activities. It was rare for Wilma to miss a wrestling match, track meet, rodeo, football or basketball game. If her kids were involved, she was there, cheering them on. After her children were grown and had children of their own, she was excited to do the same thing with her grandchildren. Some of Wilma’s hobbies included tending to her flowers and her garden, crafting and sewing. Out of all the things she enjoyed in her life, she found herself happiest working alongside her husband Dick flipping and renovating houses from 1985 to 2022, as well as spending time at their cabin at Esterbrook. She has a passion for taking a property, cleaning it up, making it beautiful and moving on to the next project. Wilma donated her body to science with hopes of assisting in a cure for restless leg syndrome.
Wilma is survived by her husband of 62 years Richard “Dick” Keller, children; Kerry (Lori) Keller, Duane (Susan) Keller and Suzanne (Russ DeHaven), grandchildren; Eric (Miranda Clark) Green, Lee (Devin Daugherty) Keller, Dalton Keller, Carly Keller, Gatlin Davis and Remington Davis and a great-grandchild Wrenleigh Green; her sister Myra Lou Youngs, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
