Nancy was born September 13, 1939 at a ranch house in Douglas, Wyoming to Alexander and Mina “Minnie” (Becker) Strohman. Her pre-school years were spent on the sheep ranch in Douglas until the family moved to various ag communities (Arapahoe, Veteran, Lingle) for her father’s employment. She married Leonard Lebsack and they made their home in Torrington, Wyoming where they raised three sons. Nancey was the ideal homemaker, keeping her house immaculately clean and decorated with figurines of animals, birds and angels. She was a wonderful cook and showed her love of her family by keeping them well fed and often treated to after school homemade cookies, pies, cakes or cinnamon rolls. She used her culinary skills to work as a cook for the Torrington School District for many years before her retirement. Although she lived an upright life, she preferred to express her religious faith quietly, seldom going to church because she did not enjoy large gatherings. Instead she lived her religious convictions by being honest, humble, hardworking, loyal, tender hearted, kind and compassionate. Her family said she was one of the kindest people they knew. She was renowned for the greeting cards she sent to friends and family. She was loyal. When her husband fell ill and had to be confined to a convalescent home, she went to visit him almost every day of the fourteen years he spent at Goshen Healthcare Community. She maintained lifelong friendships with several classmates, including Kay Dilts Martinez who was her best friend since first grade. She was a homebody, but enjoyed several trips with her sister Edna. One such trip to Ferndale, California to see their sister, Florene Strohman Titus. Another outing was to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with their mother. Their last trip was to Grand Island, Nebraska to visit Edna’s granddaughter.
Nancy was very proud of her sons, grandsons and great grandchildren. She took delight in hearing about their lives and tried to stay connected with them through greeting cards and little gifts.
Nancy is survived by her sons Bruce Lebsack of Yoder, Wyoming, Alan Lebsack of Riverton, Wyoming and Larry (Theresa) Lebsack of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; grandchildren Austin Lebsack and Chase Lebsack; great grandchildren Riley Lebsack and Addilyn Lebsack; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Mina Strohman; husband Leonard Lebsack; sisters Florene Titus and Edna Weber; and also by several nephews and her beloved niece Jennifer Lebsack.
Sympathy cards may be mailed to Bruce Lebsack at 3968 Road 42, Yoder, Wyoming, 82244. Monetary contributions will be used to fund the memorial service.
