John was born in Scottsbluff on December 31, 1945, to Henry and Christina (Steben) Reichert.

Adventurer, auctioneer, bird fancier, father, husband and friend. John’s deeply profound adoration for everything and everyone he cared for was highlighted in all of his actions. Married to his beloved wife Linda on the 23rd of July 1965 in Torrington, he did everything from farming, becoming a National Guardsman, to working at Holly Sugar, then became an auctioneer and realtor and finally a school bus driver in retirement.

At age 55, John fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to Alaska, where he and Linda thrived for 25 years fishing, gardening, collecting, and making so many friends.  The highlight for everyone was when their children and grandchildren would come visit. John had an incredible connection with his grandchildren and built a magical park on their property, which consisted of a giant slide, merry-go-round, swings, clubhouse, and Ferris wheel.

An avid historian and collector, John had an immensely vast knowledge of the history around German immigrants from Russia; where his family was from, the North Platte Valley, and the states of Nebraska and Alaska.

John was fluent in German and had a knack for communicating. He was a storyteller, an entertainer and loved to make people laugh. He was always ready to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda, his daughters Nadene and Rebekah and her husband Eric, grandchildren Samantha, Cole, and Clara; brothers Harvey and Fred Reichert, and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold and Henry Reichert, and sisters Irene Mehling, Clara Hart, Loretta Frick, Helen Hargreaves, and Lydia Schildt.
