TORRINGTON – Willene Curry, 88, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was a talented artist who was known for her skills in interior design, painting, pillow making and many other projects related to the arts. Willene had an eye for beauty, whether it be artwork, home décor, photographs, or fabric. Her ability to match classic styles with the current trend in fashion and design was a unique gift that she possessed. Willene also was a talented businesswoman who once owned the Weathervane and Gallery Place, which were specialty stores located on Torrington’s Main Street.
Willene is survived by her daughter Tracy Hergert (Mark); daughter-in-law Debbie Curry; sisters-in-laws Ann Carver (Gary); Janet Hamner; Dr. Judy Schaneman. Her grandsons, Grant Curry (Ashley); Craig Curry; Spencer Hergert (Chrissy); Holden Hergert (Emmy): Her Great grandchildren; Connor Curry, Owen Curry, Reed Curry, Demi Curry, Elemer Hergert, Lawrence Hergert, Roger Hergert, Oswald Hergert; Katie Napier, Jordan Napier, and Amon Napier. Willene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elvena Schaneman, husband Robert Curry, son Charles Curry, brother William Schaneman, sister Elaine Heimbouch and sister-in-law Mary Alyce Curry.
