Glenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She married Gary Wamboldt in June 1992, and together they shared a life rooted in family and the people they loved. Throughout her life, Glenda was known by many as “Mom,” a reflection of the love, care, and kindness she so freely gave to those around her. She had a special way of making people feel cared for and accepted. Glenda loved others openly and without judgment, sharing what she had with anyone, whether they were family, dear friends, or someone she had just met.
Glenda found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She loved baking and cooking, especially the warmth and traditions of Christmas. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafting, and reading, and there was always a special comfort in a cup of hot tea. Some of her favorite moments were spent with her close and dear friends, shopping, crafting, or simply sitting around the table together. During the past few months, Jackie, Kathy, and Penny were especially instrumental in Glenda’s life, providing friendship, love, support, and companionship when it mattered most. Their presence and care meant so much to Glenda and her family, and the kindness they showed during this time will always be remembered. It was in these moments of friendship, kindness, and togetherness that Glenda’s loving spirit shone brightest.
Glenda spent many years as a stay-at-home mom, providing childcare and caring for others before entering the workforce. She went on to work for more than 30 years at Kurt Manufacturing before retiring. No matter where life took her, caring for others remained a constant part of who she was.
Her greatest accomplishments and deepest passions were her family, especially her grandsons and, later, her great-granddaughters. They brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured every opportunity to love them, spend time with them, and share everything she could with them. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family, and she gave generously of herself to everyone she knew and even those she did not. The love she shared and the memories she created will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Gary Wamboldt of Morrill, Nebraska; her mother, Irene Young of Morrill, Nebraska; her daughter, Kleta Allen (James Drawbridge) of Torrington, Wyoming; her grandsons, Alex Wamboldt (Shaley) of Bayard, Nebraska, and Jacob Wamboldt (Kenzie) of Box Elder, South Dakota; and her great-granddaughters, Adley Wamboldt and Lydia Wamboldt. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Raymond Dominguez of Torrington, Wyoming; her brother, Frank Young of Morrill, Nebraska; and her sister-in-law, Lisa Young of Torrington, Wyoming, along with other extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Young of Morrill, Nebraska; her brother, George Young of Torrington, Wyoming; and her paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In keeping with Glenda and Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held at a later date, to be determined by her mother, Irene.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) in honor of Glenda. Donations can be made online at https://ocrahope.org/. The family appreciates your support in helping advance ovarian cancer research and support those affected by this disease.
Glenda’s life was defined by the love she gave, the people she cared for, and the countless ways she made others feel welcome and accepted. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family and friends, her simple joys, and the warmth she brought to the lives of so many. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
She was Mom to many, but to those who loved her most, she was irreplaceable.
