Stokes garners all-state honors

TORRINGTON – A tenacious and talented basketball player on both defense and offense, Torrington High School junior Teryn Stokes snagged 3A all-state honors from the Wyoming Coaches Association at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.

Stokes led the 3A East Conference on the boards, pulling down 10.5 rebounds per game and was ranked No. 2 in rebounding for all classifications. The junior filled out the stat sheet, posting 143 season points, 200 rebounds, 30 assists, 34 steals and five blocks.

“Teryn Stokes was deservedly selected as an all-state player by the majority of coaches in 3A basketball,” coach Chris Strampe said. “She affects the game in a multitude of ways and does so many positive things for our team, we simply would not have had the success we had this year without her leadership.”

Stokes plays unselfish basketball and “embodies our team ideal of placing the team above herself,” Strampe added.

Stokes stepped up in the postseason, averaging a double-double (11 points per game and 11 rebounds per game) over the course of the regional and state tournaments.

“Teryn is as mentally and emotionally tough of a player as there is in the state,” Strampe said. “She had her best games when we needed them most.”

Strampe praised Stokes as a “dedicated student” involved in a variety of extracurricular activities.

“She is a great human being to boot,” Strampe added.
