Caldwell prepares for CNFR

Posted

TORRINGTON – When asked to give an interview about her season, Gillette, Wyoming native and Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) freshman RaeLee Caldwell was a bit modest. This was not the first time she’s been in the spotlight for her success in the arena, however, nor will it be the last.

Caldwell has been rodeoing as long as she can remember and has made several appearances at high school finals in her stand out event of goat tying.

“My goals (for the regular season) were exceeded, I did not expect this outcome, but I am grateful for it.” Caldwell said.

Finishing second in the region in the goat tying, the three-event cowgirl punched her ticket to the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), which will be held in mid-June at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper.

Caldwell will be riding a different horse than in the regular season.

“We decided to retire my mare after Laramie, and I will be riding one of her babies at the CNFR,” Caldwell said.

When asked about her thoughts for the upcoming rodeo, Caldwell replied:

“I want to make four smooth runs and my teammates have been helping me prepare.”

The CNFR in Casper will be held from June 9-15 with various long go performances and one short-go.
