THS softballers wrap up inaugural season

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School girls’ junior varsity softball team wrapped up its inaugural season with a win and a loss against Cheyenne Central in a double-header it hosted on Friday, May 10.

The Lady Blazers cruised past Cheyenne Central in the first game, 8-3. 

Torrington established an early 2-1 lead in the first inning when sophomore Kennedy Reinhardt singled for two runs.

The Lady Blazers pulled out all the stops in the bottom of the fifth inning. Reinhardt drove in four runs with a triple and a single. A single by freshman Macauley McIntosh resulted in a fifth point for Torrington.

Reinhardt stepped up to the pitcher’s mound for all five innings in the first game and struck out 10.

Cheyenne Central rallied in the second game to post the win, 10-1, following six runs in the second inning.

Reinhardt, freshman Aftyn Hager, junior Hope Hager and sophomore Skyla Wunder each got in a hit against Cheyenne Central.

Reinhardt pitched for three innings, striking out five. Junior Madix McIntosh pitched for two inning and struck out three.

The Lady Blazers tallied seven wins over the course of their historic season as the first girls’ high school softball team in Goshen County sanctioned by the Wyoming High School Activities Association.
