Southeast runners, jumpers and throwers posted solid performances at SEWAC in Glenrock and the field-event invitational hosted by Pine Bluffs.

Southeast tracksters go the distance at SEWAC

GLENROCK – The Southeast High School track team snagged plenty of hardware and new personal records at the 2024 SEWAC Conference Meet hosted by Glenrock on May 4.

The Southeast girls’ team placed third overall, posting 86 points. A smaller, younger boys’ squad took fifth place with 27 team points.

Junior Angie Logsdon won the girls’ pole vault, hitting a mark of 8 feet, 6 inches. Logsdon beat the runner-up, Niobrara County’s Taci Bartschi, by six inches.

Senior Tylar Stoddard clinched gold in the girls’ triple jump, clearing 34-04 ½. Stoddard’s leap landed one foot, six inches ahead of the second-place finisher, Niobrara County’s Gracie ZumBrunnen.

In throwing events, senior Harper Boche scooped up gold in the shot put with a mark of 36-09 ¾.

On Thursday, May 2, Southeast tracksters competed at the Pine Bluffs Field Event Extravaganza. Boche won both the discus, posting a mark of 112-06, and shot put at 38-05 ½. Stoddard garnered gold in the triple jump with a mark of 32-04 ¼.

SEWAC individual top eight  girls

In sprints, sophomore Kaycee Kosmicki snagged second place in both the 200-meters, posting a time of 28.15 seconds, and the 400-meters at 1 minute, 0.86 seconds.

Sophomore Molly Hasbargen placed eighth in both the 100-meters, timing in at 14.67 seconds, and the 200-meters at 30.82 seconds.

Three Lady Cyclones advanced into the top eight in the 800-meters. Freshman Liz Boche led the pack with a fifth-place finish at 2:52.20. Junior Anna Hartman finished seventh, clocking in at 3:02.73, with senior Kylee Llewellyn in eighth at 3:04.64.

Hartman came in fourth place in the 1600-meters, crossing the finish line in 6:47.73. Llewellyn placed seventh in the event at 6:56.10.

In hurdles, junior Taylar Hansen garnered second place in the 100-meters, posting a time of 17.77 seconds. Hansen went on to place fourth in the 300-meters, timing in at 53.67, with sophomore Kaylee Gibson in seventh place at 1:12.42.

Logsdon snapped up third place in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 30-11 ¾.

Four Southeast throwers made it to the top eight in discus. Boche captured third place, hitting a mark of 107-06. Senior Kodi Andersen took fourth place at 105-01, with freshman Haylee Ekwall in sixth at 102-08 and sophomore Hadley Leithead in seventh at 99-03 ½.

Ekwall bagged silver in the shot put with a toss of 36-00 ½. Senior Madison Boyden placed fifth  at 32-04 ½.

Clocking the 400-meters in at 54.73 seconds, junior Kannon Tippetts garnered third place. Senior Wyatt Gladson placed eighth in the event at 56.64 seconds.

In the 100-meters, sophomore T.J. Moats finished fifth, posting a time of 12.50 seconds, with fellow sophomore Liam Haas in eighth place at 12.66 seconds.

Haas went on to place fifth in the long jump, hitting a mark of 16-11. Freshman Trevor Jolovich came in fifth place in the triple jump, clearing 35-06 ½. 

Two throwers advanced into the top eight in the shot put. Junior Emmett Coxbill led the pack with a fifth-place finish and a mark of 37-04. Moats placed sixth, clearing 35-10 ½.
