BAYARD – The Southeast High School outdoor track team captured plenty of hardware at the Bayard Invitational in Nebraska on March 28, in addition to posting new PRs and state prequalifying marks.

The Lady Cyclones tied with Gordon-Rushville for sixth place with 46 points. The Cyclones – fielding a smaller, younger squad – finished 11th with eight points.

Southeast pulled ahead of Leyton, Nebraska, by 1.71 seconds to win the girls’ 4x400-meter relay. Senior Tylar Stoddard, freshman Bailey Mehling, senior Sasha Haines and sophomore Kaycee Kosmicki crossed the finish line in 4 minutes, 21.33 seconds.

Senior Kodie Andersen hit a prequalifying mark in the girls’ discus, placing ninth with a toss of 99 feet, 6 inches.

Girls top eight

In sprinting events, Kosmicki broke into the finals for the 200-meters to snap up second place with a time of 27.87 seconds. Stoddard placed sixth in the event, timing in at 29.99 seconds.

Two athletes also broke into the finals for the 100-meters, with Mehling in third place, at 13.91 seconds, and Haines in fifth, with a time of 14.02 seconds.

Junior Taylar Hansen snagged fifth place in the finals for the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 18.60 seconds.

Stoddard pulled into second place in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 33-11. Mehling placed seventh in the event, at 32-01 ½, with junior Angie Logsdon in eighth place, with a mark of 31-05 ¾.

Clearing 7-06 in the pole vault, Logsdon picked up third place in the event.

Senior Harper Boche garnered fourth place in the shot put with a toss measuring 35-02.

Relay highlights consisted of a seventh-place finish for Stoddard, Mehling, sophomore Molly Hasbargen and Haines in the 4x100-meters at 55.19 seconds.

Boys top eight

Junior Kannon Tippetts clocked in under one minute in the 400-meter dash to capture second place at 54.68 seconds.

In the 4x400-meter relay, freshman Connor Coxbill, freshman Trevor Jolovich, junior William Knowlton and Tippetts finished seventh with a time of 4:06.32.

• 200-meters: Hasbargen in 22nd place at 31.90 seconds.

• 800-meters: Logsdon in 11th place at 2:57.13 and Kylee Llewellyn in 20th at 3:05.41.

• 1600-meters: Anna Hartman in 12th place at 6:58.61.

• 100-hurdles: Kaylee Gibson in 21st place at 24.73 seconds.

• 300-hurdles: Hansen in 13th place at 55.59 seconds and Gibson in 23rd at 1:15.27.

• Shot put: Madison Boyden in 10th place at 30-06 and Brooklyn Leithead in 29th at 24-05 ½.

• Discus: Haylee Ekwall in 12th place at 95-08 and Hadley Leithead in 14th at 95-01.

• 100-meters: Liam Haas in 16th place at 12.67 seconds, Wyatt Gladson in 31st at 13.65 and Lance York in 32nd at 13.68.

• 200-meters: T.J. Moats in ninth place at 25.31 seconds, Gladson in 13th at 25.55 and Haas in 16th at 26.28.

• 400-meters: Jolovich in 20th place at 1:05.30.

• 800-meters: Knowlton in ninth place at 2:21.57, Connor Coxbill in 13th at 2:32.76 and Joaquin Ramirez in 22nd at 2:48.97.

• 4x100-meter relay: Gladson, Haas, Jolovich and York in 10th place at 51.65 seconds.

• Shot put: Emmett Coxbill in 10th place at 36-05 ½, Moats in 17th at 32-02 and Alec DeMarce in 18th at 32-01.

• Discus: Emmett Coxbill in 19th place at 90-06, Moats in 23rd at 81-02 and Drew Boche in 25th at 80-06.

• Long jump: Haas in ninth place at 16-10.

• Triple jump: Jolovich in 12th place at 33-06 ¾ and Connor Coxbill in 17th at 29-01 ½.
