TORRINGTON – Memorial graveside services for Myrtle Jean Mullock, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Valley View Cemetery with Nancy Greene presiding. Myrtle died January 21, 2025, at Goshen Healthcare Community. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint Joseph’s Children’s Home. Myrtle was born July 12, 1936, in Torrington as the daughter of Ray and Lillian (Ewing) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Yoder graduating Yoder High School in 1954. She married Jerald Mullock on February 23, 1955, in Yoder. They farmed in the Yoder area for many years. She started working part-time at the post office in Yoder in 1957 and later became the postmaster when Catherine Clemons died. She retired August 29, 1997, after forty years of service.
Myrtle enjoyed raising chickens, milking cows, growing a garden, knitting, crocheting, and collecting stamps/coins. She took great pride in her cooking, especially making meals and taking them to the wheat fields during harvest. She was a member of the Yoder Women’s Club and taught Sunday School at the Yoder Presbyterian Church. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling. Myrtle always made her grandchildren feel deeply loved.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Jeri (Cactus) Covello of Torrington; grandchildren, Christin (Dolly) Covello of Laramie, and Tony (Sugar Plum) (Hayley) Covello of Windsor, Colorado; great grandson, Carter Covello of Windsor; niece, Shaina (John) Pulley of Laramie; brothers, Brice (Sue) Johnson and Bruce (Pam) Johnson all of Cheyenne; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerald; two sisters, Jackie and Joyce; and a brother, Leroy.
