TORRINGTON – Lyle Whitney Blue, 92, passed away peacefully February 1, 2025, at Torrington Community Hospital and cremation has taken place. At his request no public services will be held, but had services been held “Sweet Hour of Prayer” and “God Bless America” surely would have been played at the service. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church or the Cottonwood Golf Course. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.

Lyle was born December 13, 1932, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Emery and Rose (Whitney) Blue. As a young boy he grew up in Lincoln until he moved away in his adult years. He married Phyllis Keim September 10, 1955, while on leave from the United States Army. The couple moved to Colorado while he attended college. It was in Colorado that he started working for Bloedorn Lumber Company. He then followed Bloedorn’s to Wyoming where he worked until his retirement. Lyle and Phyllis had three children, Kim, Kathy and Paul. Lyle loved to travel with his wife Phyllis, and he was an avid sports lover. In his younger years he enjoyed playing handball and tennis and enjoyed playing golf throughout his whole life. He was a very devoted family man and a friend to many.

Lyle is survived by his children, Kim Holthus and Kathy (Steve) Childs; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, son Paul, grandson Zach Childs and wife Phyllis.
