EWC hosts Lancer Rodeo this weekend

GILLETTE – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo Team traveled to Gillette this past weekend for the Gillette College Rodeo.

It was a successful weekend for Wellington, Colorado native Colton Zimmerman. The Lancer headed into the short round on Sunday sitting 10th in the tie-down and finished the weekend second in the average, along with clinching the short round win with a 9.9-second run. 

Team roping partners Carter Anderson of Merriman, Nebraska and Seth Glass of Central City, Nebraska ended their weekend fourth in the average. Weston Klatt of Dickinson, North Dakota and Sam Andrews of Bowman, North Dakota also made it back to short go Sunday. 

Bridger Amiotte of Wall, South Dakota started out his weekend with a bang and came back to short round Sunday sitting first in the average and ended sixth in the average. 

“It felt good to get the ball rolling this early in the season,” Amiotte said about his long go win.

Taydon Gorsuch of Gering, Nebraska ended his weekend 10th in the average. 

Two Lady Lancers made it back to short round Sunday in the goat tying. RaeLee Caldwell, a Gillette native, finished out her weekend fifth in the goat tying. Isabelle Camino, of Buffalo, finished sixth in the average for the weekend. 

The team will be hosting the Annual EWC Lancer Rodeo this weekend from March 22-24 with performances starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Championship rounds take place on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. 

The action takes place at the Goshen County Pavilion at fairgrounds. Admission is $5 for adults and free for Goshen County School District No. 1 students and children.
