GUERNSEY – The Southeast High School Lady Cyclones’ offense and defense both gelled in the first quarter of the February 13 away conference game against the Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings.

A formidable Southeast offense dominated the scoreboard with 13 points in the opening eight minutes of regulation while an unyielding Lady Cyclones’ defense completely shut out Guernsey-Sunrise in scoring.

Southeast found itself ahead by an overwhelming 19-3 margin at halftime. The Lady Cyclones’ airtight defense prevented Guernsey-Sunrise from scoring in the third quarter while the Southeast offense netted 12 points, setting the stage for the Lady Cyclones to triumph over the Lady Vikings, 36-9.

Southeast’s victory on Tuesday marked the Lady Cyclones’ third conference win, securing Southeast’s position as the No. 2 team in the 1A Southeast Quadrant with a 3-1 record as the final weekend of the regular season approaches.

Rock River currently sits at No. 1 in the quadrant with a 4-1 record, and Southeast’s game against Hanna-Elk Mountain on Saturday could shake up the top two rankings. The Lady Cyclones defeated Hanna-Elk Mountain at a January 6 home game by a 33-20 margin.

The halftime score favored Southeast by a commanding 19-3 margin.
