TORRINGTON – Graveside services for Jim Leroy Stricker, 78, will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Valley View Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and a flag detail provided by American Legion Travis Snow Post 5 Honor Guard. A celebration of life will follow the graveside services at the American Legion. 

Jim passed away January 29, 2025, at Torrington Community hospital and cremation has taken place. Memorials can be made to Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter or Disabled American Veteran Department in Jim’s name. Jim was born in Scottsbluff to David and Dorothy (Kennedy) Stricker on January 27, 1947. Jim had two sisters, Patty Sellenrick and Barb Jones. The family lived in Bayard then moved to Huntley where he went to school. He graduated from Huntley in 1965. After graduation, he attended Casper College. Jim enlisted in the Air Force in 1967. He was deployed to Vietnam during that time. He was an aircraft fuels mechanic while in Vietnam. Jim’s enlistment ended in 1970 when he entered the guards from 1970 to 1972. He was married to Vickie Woodard. They had two children, son James Kirk Stricker and daughter Angie Hite. Later Jim married Kathleen (Kathy) Harold. 

Jim loved to do crossword puzzles, photography and be with his six dachshunds especially Sasha. He would go to dachshund races. He was an avid gun collector. He loved to travel the Midwest, especially to the Indian Battlefields and Forts. He loved to listen to 50s and 60s rock as well as classic county. His and Kathy’s song was Amarillo by Morning by George Strait. 

Jim belonged to Travis Snow Post 5 American Legion where he was Past Commander. He belonged to the VFW 2918, was Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4, as well as Past Department Commander of the Disabled American Veterans. Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen (Torrington, Wyoming), sister Patty Sellenrick (Sheridan) son James Kirk Stricker (Las Vegas, Nevada), daughter Angie Hite (Altamont, Illinois), five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, stepdaughter Melissa Feldner (Belton, Texas), stepson Dennis Harold (Torrington), and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barb Jones and grandson Caleb Stricker.
