LINGLE – Services for James Robert Price, 85 and a half, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at North Hills Baptist Church. Memorials can be given to Compassion International of Colorado Springs, Colorado or your local animal shelter. James entered Jesus’ arms May 5, 2025. James was born in Modesto, California November 18, 1939, to Thomas and Annie (Green) Price. He joined siblings Thomas and Martha Jeffers. His parents and siblings preceded him in death. 

James graduated in 1957 from Oakdale High School. He attended Modesto Junior College, studying forestry and wildlife for two years. He was married to Carol Martin in 1972. They shared life for almost 53 years. 

Jim and Carol have a daughter Annie (Edward) Dostal of Gregory, South Dakota and a son Thomas (Rachael) of Gordon, Nebraska. They have eight grandchildren: Paul Schaller, Addie, Heather, Sarah and Matthew Dostal, Ili, Maren and Thatcher Price and one unofficial grandson Luke. 

Jim began his career after high school in fire suppression with the state of California. He did this seasonally until the army drafted him in 1962. He served in communication until 1963 based at Fort Riley, Kansas. At discharge he worked one more year with the state, then was employed by the US Forest Service. He worked in Stanislaus, California, Manti La-Sal, Utah and Bridger-Teton, Wyoming, National Forests from 1965 to 1984. He ended his career with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Saratoga National Fish Hatchery in Wyoming retiring in 1995. After retirement, he worked seasonal for the town of Saratoga for five years. In 2002 he retired completely and moved one last time to Torrington, where he and his wife have lived for the past twenty-three years.
