TORRINGTON – Elsie Katherine Hopp, 99, died January 5, 2025, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 10, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.
Memorials may be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Elsie was born on February 10, 1925, in Torrington, the daughter of Martin and Katherine (Ripple) Schaneman. She received her education in Torrington and graduated in 1943 from Torrington High School. After high school, she worked at Safeway before going to Sacramento, California to work with the Signal Air Corps during World War II.
Elsie married Albert Hopp on December 6, 1945. After his discharge from the Navy they moved to Lance Creek to work in the oil field. In 1948, they moved back to Torrington to farm. Elsie enjoyed cooking German dishes, going to family events and gardening (especially Albert’s roses). She was a long-time member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington.
Preceding her in death were her son Clinton Hopp and her husband of 73 years, Albert Hopp.
She is survived by her two sons, John (Debbie) of Gillette and Mark of Torrington; her brother Dick Schaneman; two granddaughters, Brittany Hopp of Springfield, Missouri and Ashleigh Hamilton of Rapid City, South Dakota; four great grandchildren, Dashel, Hadley, Camden and Winslow Hamilton.
