Blazers beat Bulldogs to move on

DOUGLAS – The Torrington Trailblazers snapped their losing streak to beat Wheatland 48-27 in the first round of the consolation bracket today in Douglas at the 3A East Regional Tournament, continuing their season.

Torrington came out hot, rushing out to a 12-0 lead after the first five minutes of action. At the end of the first, the Blazers led 12-2. Torrington kept the same distance, heading into halftime up 20-10. Wheatland started to make a run in the third quarter, cutting into the lead, but a three at the buzzer by Bryan Lemmon gave Torrington a 29-22 lead with a quarter to go. Torrington scored 19 points in the fourth to seal the big win.

With the win, Torrington advances to the next round to take on the loser between Newcastle and Rawlins. The team that wins tomorrow's game at 1 p.m. qualifies for the state tournament, while the loser is finished for the year.
