As part of a multi-state team, the University of Wyoming Extension’s Cent$ible Nutrition Program (CNP) recently earned national recognition for its efforts to connect people facing food insecurity with local produce.

Learn to fly and race a drone at the Drone Cup Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Eastern Wyoming College’s Agriculture Technology Education Center (ATEC) located at 3401 West C St. in Torrington.

Each December, more than 4,000 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and aboard, carry out wreath-laying ceremonies in cemeteries in effort to remember, honor and reach.

On September 16, 2001, their lives were cut short when, sometime after midnight, a pickup driven by another University of Wyoming student, crossed the center line on Wyoming Highway 287. The pickup truck slammed into the Jeep in the opposite lane, hitting the vehicle head-on.

About a dozen personnel responded to the scene near Huntley for the report of a row of hay bales and an adjacent field engulfed in flames. The wind speeds and mild temperatures contributed to the blaze and additional water tanks were brought to the location to help battle the inferno.

Students of the Southeast High School and Elementary gathered on Monday in the gymnasium in honor of Veteran’s Day.

After almost two full months of preparation, the finalists for the “Goshen County Start-Up Challenge” pitched their business ideas for the judges on Thursday, Nov. 9. During the “Pitch Night,” the local entrepreneurs gave it their all to present their ideas for the opportunity to receive seed funding.

Commissioners announce incoming fire warden

After a solid showing at last spring’s state convention in Cheyenne by all who participated, three of those Torrington/Lingle-Fort Laramie teams proved they were more than capable of going beyond the state level and onto the national convention.

“We are a Federated Women’s Club,” Bev Yiek, long-time club member, said. “I think we are the oldest club because we celebrated our 100th birthday in 2021, for the YWC.”

The famous phrase, trick-or-treat, is there on Halloween for a reason. It truly is the one night of the year for everyone of all ages to dress up, head outside and try to have a little fun.

“We love our other county employees,” Goshen County Library Director Cristine Braddy told the Telegram. “They are so sweet to do this. To have the courthouse sponsorship something like this, [it really shows us all as] one big happy Goshen County family.”

Goshen County is known for its deep agriculture roots and as the seasons change, the 2023 sugar beet campaign has begun to wrap up.

For some, middle school can be a wonderful connecting bridge from childhood on into the teenage years.

Children are now raised in a world of technology. Unlike older generations, most will not know a time when their lives were not impacted by technology in some way.

There is no mistake in pointing out the help and community-support that Goshen County residents give to one another when they need it the most.
