GOSHEN COUNTY – Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has three student, teacher scholarship opportunities. It is encouraging Goshen County School District (GCSD) administrators and students to apply from the elementary through high school levels.

GOSHEN COUNTY – In case you missed all the social media updates, emails and letters home from Goshen County School District (GCSD), here are some highlights and information students, parents and guardians, as well as community members should know regarding back-to-school procedures next week.

LARAMIE – As food prices continue to rise, University of Wyoming Extension Nutrition and Food Safety and Educator Vicki Hayman offers tips on how to shop smart and save money. Increasing food costs are painfully evident on grocery receipts this summer. “For many people, this means you are going to have to spend more for the same amount of groceries or you are going to need to find ways to spend less,” Hayman comments.

TORRINGTON – Goshen County Library Board Director Ellen Creagar presented the July and end of summer reading program report to the Goshen County Commissioners at its regularly scheduled August meeting on Tuesday; in her report she detailed that two fourth graders had read 4300 minutes, or 72 hours, in just over eight weeks during the summer reading program.

GOSHEN COUNTY – The Goshen County School District (GCSD) held a special meeting Tuesday, August 2 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss contracting of the demolition of the Southeast agriculture shop, contracting for the purchase of a replacement metal building package, action on staffing and consideration of final approval of revisions to the student attendance policy and truancy policy.

TORRINGTON – Art and Loretta Davis would like to announce the marriage of their daughter, Darci Davis, to David Holbert. The couple was wed July 16, 2022, in Riverton. Darci and David are both employed at Fremont County School District 38 and live in Riverton. Art and Loretta are hosting an open-house reception at Table Mountain Vineyards near Torrington on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. to celebrate the newlyweds. All are welcome to attend.

LARAMIE – At the annual Wyoming Wool Growers Association conference this month, University of Wyoming Extension sheep specialist Whit Stewart announced the launch of the Wyoming Wool Initiative.

CHEYENNE – A state of Wyoming veterans service officer from the Wyoming Veterans Commission will conduct community outreach services around Wyoming cities throughout August.

GOSHEN COUNTY – On Tuesday, Goshen County Public Health (GCPH) and Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) reported 166 new COVID-19 probable/positive cases from July 1 through July 12; at least 162 cases were from Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) in Torrington.

TORRINGTON – Eastern Western Wyoming is hosting a formal reception meet and greet of its new President Jeffry Hawes next week.

CHEYENNE – In a press release Monday, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon announced the state’s suicide lifeline services were expanded and improved to offer full-time, Wyoming-based coverage 24 hours a day, every day of the week.

Area youth and adults were invited to view various aircraft, watch them take-off, fly and land and ask questions of pilots and other aviation enthusiasts at Torrington’s Second Annual Fly-In Saturday morning.

A new way to experience some of the nation’s most prominent parks has arrived in the form of a music playlist.

The Goshen County School District (GCSD) Special Olympics team took the court this past weekend to participate in the 2022 Spring Area III Games in Cheyenne.

The second graders of Lincoln Elementary perform the musical HATS!

The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Community Band and Choir held its Spring Concert on Sunday.
