TORRINGTON – After the first two nights of baseball were canceled this season due to weather, the Torrington Little League Majors got the season started Wednesday.
Wednesday night started the same, with a weather delay. After the thunder and lightning passed, the action got underway. The first contests of the year were between the Mets and Cardinals and the Yankees and Cubs.
The Yankees jumped out to an early lead, growing a 6-0 advantage in the first two innings. They expanded their lead and captured the win, 10-0, after four innings of play. On Field 2, the Cardinals snagged a win over the Mets. After three full innings on the diamond, the Cards finished with a 16-6 win.
