Blazers defeat Douglas

DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School Blazers’ team chemistry continued to mesh as the varsity squad squared off against the Douglas Bearcats in the first conference game of the 2024 season on March 28.

A gritty Torrington defense completely shut out Douglas from scoring throughout regulation while a powerful, coordinated Blazer offense netted four goals for Torrington to post a decisive 4-0 victory against its 3A rival.

The Blazers’ victory over the Bearcats maintained Torrington’s early momentum for the season as the team currently sits at a 4-1 overall record.

At the season-opening Pinnacle Cup in Worland, Torrington went 2-1, netting a 6-0 win against Newcastle to commence the tournament. The Blazers went on to defeat Green River, 2-1, following a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. Torrington won the overtime shootout against Green River, 7-6.

The championship game between Torrington and Worland came down to the wire, with Worland winning by a single point, 3-2.

On March 26, the Blazers crushed Gering, Nebraska, 7-0.

Torrington hosts its first home game against Rawlins on April 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Rawlins’ overall record currently sits at 0-2.
