Samuel Edward Vigil

TORRINGTON – Samuel Edward Vigil was born on September 18, 1949 to Antonio Vigil and Carolina (Aragon) Vigil in Laramie. He grew up and attended his school years there. 

After graduation he went to Pueblo, Colorado where he completed training in the meat cutting industry. Sam passed away on September 15, 2023. 

Sam started working in Rawlins, where he met and married his love of 49 years, Marlene McAlister. They settled in Torrington, where the couple had a daughter, Lisa. Sam adored his daughter and was devastated by her loss in February 2022.

Sam worked at his trade until his retirement. He was known and well-liked by everyone in Torrington. 

In recent years, Sam discovered a blessing in a son, Bob, whom he had been previously unaware of. They bonded upon meeting and remained in contact until Sam’s death.

Sam is survived by his wife Marlene, son Bob Flanders, grandchildren Branden and Savanna Anderson, Bostyn and Brei Flanders, his nieces and nephews and sister in laws.

Sam was proceeded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa, brother Tony, sister Dorothy and a niece and nephew.

Sam will be remembered by his big heart and kind spirit. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Services will be at St Rose Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 3 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow at the Church.
