TORRINGTON – Brandy Sue Hickman, 47, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Brandy was born August 21, 1976, in Torrington, the daughter of Robert and Betty (Garrelts) Hickman. She grew up in Yoder/Torrington, Wyoming. Brandy attended Southeast High School in Yoder and graduated with the class of 1994. She went onto Chadron State College and attended the University of Wyoming.

Brandy loved working and had a passion for healthcare. She worked at Yellowstone National Park in guest relations and observed and documented otter habitat, ten years at Rady Children’s Hospital as a clinic manager in San Diego, California, and a scheduling manager at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Cheyenne. Brandy was a life flight dispatcher for Scottsbluff Air Link and Omaha Air Methods, and worked for Nebraska Pain Clinic in Lincoln, Nebraska. Most recently she worked for Burgess Health Center as a part time lab courier and a PRN hospital registrar and worked for Whiting Pharmacy as a support staff for several years.

She loved traveling all fifty states, and going to National Parks, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Brandy enjoyed music, dancing, animals, nature, cooking, and gardening. She was devoted to her family and friends. 

Brandy was a part of the Matthew Shepard Foundation, National Arbor Day Foundation, and Wyoming Equality Movement.  She was a supporter of those with Chiari Malformation and would offer information and support to others.

Survivors include her fiancé, Amy Everhart of Onawa, Iowa; father, Robert “Bob” Hickman of Torrington; brother, Brady (Casey) Hickman Torrington; niece and nephews, Kashen Hickman, Ada Mae Hickman, and Kody Hickman; Amy’s parents, Melvin and Marcine (Wilkens) Everhart of North Platte, Nebraska; Amy’s siblings, Sarah (Zach) Grandel and their three children of Omaha, and Eric (Petra) Everhart and their four children of North Platte; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and countless friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Garrelts) Hickman; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Brandy gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation with the Iowa Donor Network.
