Leland D. Hull

CASPER – Leland D. Hull died at Hospice Transitions, Casper, on September 11, 2023. Leland’s body was donated to Science Care for medical research. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Leland was born in North Bend, Nebraska on May 22, 1927, to Anna Roubal Hull and Edwin Hull. 

Leland was a graduate of North Bend High School and a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Following his service, Leland graduated from Midland College in 1950 with a degree in Business Education. While at Midland, Leland met his future wife, Shirley Jean Lydick.

He started his career as a Business Education Teacher and later served his communities in Nebraska and Colorado as a school administrator. He received a Doctorate of Education at the University of Nebraska. In 1973, he joined the University of Wyoming as a Field Coordinator, supervising student teachers and teaching and coordinating off campus classes in eastern Wyoming communities.

Leland is survived by Shirley, his wife of 74 years, daughters Linda Wise, DeeAnne Simonson (David), and Lori Hull, and grandchildren Joel Simonson (Kate), Bethany Simonson, Jacob Knopp, Elizabeth Knopp and great-granddaughter, Logan Simonson. He was predeceased by his son, David Hull.

A memorial scholarship will be created at the University of Wyoming in the future to honor Leland and David Hull.
