TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School girls’ tennis team opened the home portion of the schedule on Tuesday afternoon against the Cheyenne East Lady Thunderbirds.
In a girls’ only match, the Lady Blazers dropped the match to Cheyenne East 4-0 with all four matches ended in straight sets.
In singles action, Bethany Wunibald fell 6-1, 6-3, while Jaycee Shields lost 6-0, 6-3.
In doubles action, Kayla Watson and Shaelee Jackson lost 6-0, 6-3, while the team of Jazmyne West and Julianna Russell fell 6-0, 6-0.
The match featured no official third doubles match but did feature an exhibition doubles match. Olivia Justin and Katie Watson lost the match 6-0, 6-2.
Both Torrington tennis teams are back in action in Laramie, facing Rock Springs and Green River. Action gets underway at noon against Rock Springs and 3 p.m. against Green River. The Blazers also travel to Cheyenne South for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday, Aug. 24.
