MODESTO – James Robert Fullmer “Jim”, age 76, passed away on December 4, 2023 with his family by his side.
Jim was born on January 2, 1947, to Leeland and Mary Ellen Fullmer in Torrington.
After Jim graduated from Veteran High School in 1965, he went on to study at Eastern Wyoming College and then attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics.
Following his graduation, Jim embarked on a career with Del Monte Corporation in 1969. His professional journey led him and his family across the United States and Europe. Known for his strong work ethic and loyalty, it was no surprise that Jim remained with Del Monte until he retired in the early 2000s.
Jim embraced a post-retirement chapter with a commitment to staying engaged in the agricultural field that led him to take on managerial roles utilizing his skills and work ethic in various jobs.
Unfortunately, as his health deteriorated it put a pause on his enduring commitment to work.
Jim met his first wife Peggy Tebbet in Torrington while in college. They were married for 36 years and had two children, Heather Fullmer and Jason Fullmer. He married his second wife Lidia Hernandez on September 29th, 2006, assuming the role of a paternal figure for Lidia’s children.
Jim treasured family time, whether at the farmer’s market with his daughter, with family in California, or visiting his son and grandkids in Texas. Each connection brought joy, and he took pride in his blended family’s achievements over the years. Proud of his Wyoming roots, he valued strong ties with his extended family there.
A sports enthusiast, Jim cheered for the University of Wyoming and Denver teams. His passion extended to gardening, where he had the neighborhood’s best yard. Generous, he shared the fruits of his garden with friends and family.
He also adored his dogs Maggie and Mini.
Jim is survived by his wife Lidia Hernandez, Modesto, children Heather Fullmer, Modesto, Jason (Mamie) Fullmer Austin, Texas, stepchildren Diana (John) Conboy, Joe Oropeza, John
Oropeza, Martin Oropeza, eight grandchildren, brother Russell (Debbie) Fullmer, Sheridan, sister Patricia Fullmer, Denver, first wife Peggy Fullmer, Austin, and a large extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Leeland and Mary Ellen Fullmer and his brother Rodney Fullmer.
