TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Jack Melvin Ochsner, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Lingle Community Presbyterian Church with Trenda Weisshaar officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Jack died at his home in Torrington on May 29, 2022 and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the Torrington Senior Friendship Center. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Jack was born March 30, 1930 at the family farm near Torrington to Godfrey and Esther (Steinmetz) Ochsner. He grew up and received his education there. After the death of his father he helped run the family farm until at age eighteen he joined the US Army where he served in Korea. Upon his discharge he returned to the family farm where he lived and worked until his retirement. He married Barbara Seibel on June 6, 1954. They later moved into Torrington.

Jack enjoyed hunting and playing card games. He was a member of the American Legion.

Jack is survived by his son Jacob (Lisa) Ochsner of Lingle; grandsons Paul (Katie) Newman of Saratoga and Colby (Lauren Bieker); granddaughter Maggie (Tyler) Kimzey; great grandsons Parker Ochsner, Malcolm Kimzey, Kashis Kimzey and Koby Kimzey; great granddaughters Lyla Newman and Cosette Kimzey; and sisters Delores Hatch and Marjorie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, daughter Kayleen and brother George.
