YODER – Donald L. Swank of Yoder, Wyoming, passed away December 4, 2023. There will be no service, his wishes were to be cremated. His older children are planning a memorial next spring for family and friends.
Don was born March 8, 1945. As an infant he was adopted by Helen (Hague) and Floyd Swank. Residing in and around Yoder most of his life. Don graduated from Goshen Hole High School.
On August 12, 1970 he married Josephine Hernandez. To this union, four children were born; Mary (Jeff) Patrick, North Loup, Nebraska; Don Jr. (Elaine), Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Raymond (Loris) Torrington; and John, Huntley. On November 14, 1989 Jo died unexpectedly.
In June of 1990, he married Paula Taylor, the couple moved to Nebraska to work on her family farm, before moving back to Yoder when Don’s dad Floyd, passed. Seven children were born: Clifford, Gering, Nebraska; Veronica, Stephanie, and Eric all of Yoder; Shawn, Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Patrick, Cheyenne; Sterling of Amelia, Nebraska.
Anyone who knew Don, knew his love of sports and he enjoyed playing cards. He enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends.
Along with his wife and children, Don is survived by 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine, his parents Floyd, and Helen, and three grandchildren: Jason, Taylor, and Savanna.
