TORRINGTON – David Michael (Mike) Stoner, 75, of Torrington passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Mike was born in Highland Park, Michigan on October 8, 1948. Soon after, his family moved to San Diego, California, where he learned his love of outdoor activities and passion for automobiles. 

Mike moved to Lewistown, Montana, in the late 1970s to open a service station, which led to a passion in owning and operating a towing business, and he found the love of his life, Jean Sullivan. 

This passion got him recognized as an expert in this field. His expertise provided an opportunity in Billings, Montana in the late 1980s. 

Through his experience in managing vehicle recovery, he emarked in retail management. This led to an opportunity to be an assistant manager for Pamida in Torrington. He briefly left Torrington for management positions in Winner, South Dakota and Alliance, Nebraska, before returning to Torrington, the town he fell in love with.

Mike was known for his time as a manager for Pamida, The Mercantile, and Bomgaars. Customers often sought advice from Mike at the Stores. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whether friend or stranger and those strangers often became friends.

Mike is survived by his wife, Jean, children, Dennis (wife Kelly), Daryl (wife Sandra), Donald, DeDe, David, Darin (wife Beth), and Ruby; and nine grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura, and brothers, John and Randy.
