BURNS – Torrington’s annual Jim Wiseman Invite was held at Burns High School on Friday due to a known issue near the finish line that makes the local track unfit for competition.

The Blazers came away with three first-place finishes heading into this week’s 3A East Regional Track and Field Meet, to also be held in Burns, as both the Blazers and Lady Blazers finished fourth in the final team standings.

Senior Scotty Woodruff picked up two wins, while freshman Allison Brummell claimed the third.

Woodruff swept the throwing events, winning shot put with a toss of 52 feet, 5 inches while beating out junior teammate Corbin Harris with a throw of 141-8 in discus.

Harris also finished third in shot put with a throw 49-7. Brandon Bennick also medaled in the shot put, finishing sixth.

In other field events, senior Brett Posten finished sixth in long jump and seventh in pole vault.

Two of the Blazer relay teams placed in the top three.
