EWC rodeo team rounds out season

LARAMIE – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancers travelled to Laramie for the Laramie River Rendezvous this past weekend for the final rodeo of the season. 

The EWC women’s team finished fourth in the Central Rocky Mountain Region and the men’s team finished seventh.

EWC cowboys Bridger Amiotte and Taydon Gorsuch went one and two in the long-round of the weekend. Amiotte, a Wall, South Dakota native finished with a time of 4.2 seconds and 7.1 seconds to finish in the average fourth. 

Gorsuch of Gering, Nebraska had a 4.3-second run the long-go and ended his weekend eighth.

In the tie-down, Rozet native Coy Thar finished third in the average for the weekend with two runs of 10.6 seconds and 12.1 seconds. Freshman Weston Klatt of Dickinson, North Dakota, came into the short go with a 11.3-second run and finished fifth the average with a 16.6-second run. 

Two EWC teams made it back in the team roping this weekend. Edgar Aguilar of Greeley, Colorado, and Colton Zimmerman of Nunn, Colorado, came into the short-go with a 5.4-second run and finished their weekend sixth. 

Carter Anderson of Merriman, Nebraska, and Seth Glass of Central City, Nebraska, finished their weekend seventh in the average with a time of 7.6 seconds in the long-go.

RaeLee Caldwell, of Gillette, will be headed to the CNFR representing the Lancers in the goat tying event. RaeLee finished out her year as the reserve regional goat tying champion and will be competing in Casper for the national goat tying championship in June.  

EWC top 25 Standings

• Goat tying: RaeLee Caldwell second, Jessica Woodward 13th, Keeley Puls 20th and Isabelle Camino 24th.

• Barrels: Camryn Kocian sixth

• Breakaway: RaeLee Caldwell 15th and Jayda From 16th. 

• Tie Down: Colton Zimmerman 14th, Carter Anderson 15th, Cooper Phillipps 18th, Coy Thar 20th and Kyler Clark 23rd. 

• Team Roping: Kyler Clark 10th, Carter Anderson 11th, Edgar Aguilar 24th, Seth Glass 16th and Colton Zimmerman 21st.
