EWC wins McCook Tournament

McCOOK, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team recently returned from McCook, Neb. where they won the one-day tournament with a total score of 304. McCook Community College was second with a score of 309.

“It was great to go and get a total team effort win on such a difficult golf course,” coach Zach Smith said. “We’ve been battling McCook all year for the top spot in the region so it’s encouraging to get a win on their home course. We will continue our momentum as we play in Sterling this week.”

Leading the Lancers with a tied score of 74 were Cameron Heath, freshman, Bolton, United Kingdom and George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, United Kingdom. Heath and Elliott tied for third in the tournament. 

Other Lancer scores were as follows: Kash Kaufman, freshman, Torrington, 75 – tied fourth; Trey Massey, sophomore, Lander, 75 – tied fourth; Dalton Bingham, freshman, Riverton, Utah, 76 – sixth; Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain, 81; Jared Pilkington, sophomore, Scottsbluff, Neb., 82
