MCCOOK, Neb. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team competed at the McCook Community College tournament on April 8-9. The Lancers won the tournament with a score of 314. McCook CC was second with 324.

It is the third tournament win of the season for EWC.

“The golf course at McCook is always a challenge, but throw in 20-30 mph wind gusts, and it becomes even more challenging,” EWC coach Zach Smith said. “Tomas and Brendan had great rounds on Thursday to help lead us to a 10-stroke lead going into day two.

Sophomore Tomas Kubata, Prague, Czech Republic, won the tournament with a score of 74.

“We had some guys excited to get their minds right and play aggressive on Friday, but unfortunately, the second day was canceled due to weather conditions,” Smith said. “Overall, it was a solid team win, and we look forward to preparing to play in Sterling.”

The Lancers were scheduled to play in Sterling, Colo. on April 15-16, but because of weather, the tournament has been moved to April 17-18.
