Trio plays at Shrine Bowl

CASPERThe football cream of the crop for the Wyoming high school graduating Class of 2025 put on their pads, helmets and uniforms for a final time at the 52nd Annual Shrine Bowl all-stars game in Casper on Saturday, June 14.

Three Goshen County athletes made the cut to play for the South Team at this years’ Shrine Bowl, including Torrington High School graduates Mac Hibben and Ryan Moorehouse and Lingle-Fort Laramie High School graduate Louden Bremer.

Bremer played on both sides of the field for the South Team, picking up several tackles on the D-line and rushing for 25 yards on six carries for the offense.

Hibben and Moorehouse both stepped up as members of the South Team’s D-line, facing off against the North Team’s offense in nearly every possession of Saturday’s game.

Pine Bluffs head coach Will Gray led the South Team.

The game between the South and North teams at Natrona County High School’s Cheney Alumni Field came down to a single possession in the second half of an exciting game with tenacious efforts by both teams (and despite another two-plus-hour lightening delay). Players brought high energy to the field and the sidelines with sportsmanship and class on display all around.

The first quarter ended with the North Team ahead by a single touchdown, 7-0. The North Team reached the end zone twice in the second quarter while holding the South Team to one touchdown.

The teams headed for the locker rooms at halftime with the North Team ahead, 20-7.

Battling back in the third quarter, the South Team promptly scored two touchdowns to make it a one-possession game, 27-21.

A touchdown by the North Team early in the fourth quarter widened North’s lead, 34-21.

The South Team responded by reaching the end zone to score with three minutes remaining on the clock. South came up short in regaining possession in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and the North Team secured the victory, 34-28.

Football players arrived in Casper on Monday, June 9, for the first day of practice. Players dug in for at least five hours of practice each day during the course of the week. Friday featured media day with a parade in downtown Casper on Saturday morning.

Bremer captured 1A 9-man football all-state and all-conference accolades for his senior season and was named the 1A offensive player of the year. Bremer also made the roster for the Casper Star-Tribune’s annual Super 25.

Hibben garnered 3A all-state and all-conference selections for the 2024 season while Moorehouse collected a 3A all-conference award.
