The Torrington Tigers 'C' team posted its 10th and 11th victories for the season after defeating Laramie in an away double-header.

ALLIANCE – The Torrington Tigers ‘C’ Legion baseball team picked up its 10th and 11th consecutive season wins with a double-header victory against Laramie at an away game on Sunday, June 15.
Torrington left it all on the field in the first game, outscoring the Rangers, 20-6, on the final scoreboard. The Tigers went on to crush Laramie in the second game, 14-4.
“The boys showed up and took care of business today,” coach Rob Mortimore said. “We got off to a rocky start in game one, and a couple things didn’t go our way, but the boys responded very well. We finished game one with five different boys having multiple hits and ended up with 17 total as a team. It was a great team win and our hope was it would set the tone for game two.”
Game 1
Laramie established a 2-0 lead following the first inning. The Tigers blasted back in the second inning with seven runs in the top while Torrington’s fielders shut out Laramie in the bottom.
A 3-0 run by the Tigers in the third inning widened Torrington’s lead, 10-2.
Eight runs by the Tigers in the top of the fifth inning sealed the win for Torrington.
Owen Curry commenced the fifth with a triple for one RBI. Ebin Hunter followed with a double for one RBI. Brody Shields, Patrick Mortimore, Asher Mattis, Barrett Bruch and Curry each singled for one RBI apiece in the bottom of the fifth while Mortimore reached home on an error.
Torrington collected 17 hits against Laramie in the first game. Mattis tallied four hits and two RBI. Curry and Hunter each totaled three hits with Curry posting four RBI and Hunter two.
Bruch and James Stienmetz both recorded two hits for two RBI. Shields, Mortimore and Marek Nunnes rounded out the tally with one hit each.
Stienmetz pitched the first three innings for the Tigers, striking out two. Nunnes came in as relief, striking out three over two innings.
Game 2
The Tigers won the first inning, 2-0. Laramie responded with two runs in the bottom of the third inning while holding Torrington to one in the top.
A 1-0 run by Laramie in the fourth inning resulted in a 3-3 stalemate. Each team scored one run in the fifth inning and the deadlock continued, 4-4.
Torrington rallied in the top of the sixth inning with seven runs. Chase Moeller sacrificed a grounder to send Shields home.
Bruch hit a double for two RBI and Mattis scored on a passed ball. A grounder by Curry allowed Stienmetz to reach home. Hunter singled for one RBI and Bruch stole home.
Torrington clinched the win with a 3-0 run in the seventh inning. Shields stole home for the Tigers’ first run in the top of the seventh. Bruch hit another double, sending one home while Nunnes scored on an error.
The Tigers netted 11 hits in the second game. Bruch paced the Torrington offense with three hits for three RBI. Hunter collected two hits for two RBI while Curry posted a pair of hits for one RBI. Mattis, Stienmetz, Shields and Mortimore each totaled one hit.
Shields pitched the first 3.2 innings for Torringotn, striking out one. Curry played relief for 3.1 innings, striking out four.
