The Tigers 'A' Legion team picked up one win and one loss against conference rival Wheatland on Tuesday.

WHEATLAND – An away double header between the Torrington Tigers ‘A’ Legion baseball team and Wheatland resulted in one conference victory for the Tigers and one loss.
A 3-0 run by Torrington in the third inning of the first game sealed a 4-2 victory for the Tigers. Wheatland reversed course in the second game with 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning to post a 13-3 win.
“The boys played very well during game one,” coach Lane Greiman said. “Wheatland had a really good start from the starting pitcher and fortunately for us, we had competitive at-bats and pushed some runs across ultimately giving us the win. Game two was a little rough for us – we dealt with some internal struggles and ended up dropping the game to Wheatland.”
Game 1
Wheatland led, 1-0, after the first inning.
Torrington’s fielders stepped up to shut out Wheatland in the second and third innings.
In the bottom of the second inning, Landre Greiman struck out two as the Tigers’ pitcher. Wheatland also sent a ground ball to Hager at third base. Hager tossed the ball to Kelly on first for the out.
Greiman struck out two more Wheatland batters in the bottom of the third inning. Wheatland lined out to Conner Correll in right field for the third out.
Three decisive runs by the Tigers in the top of the fourth inning placed Torrington ahead, 3-1. Mac Hibben commenced the fourth inning with a double for one RBI. Caleb Kelly hit a grounder and reached second base on an error, sending Hibben and Ryan Moorehouse home.
A solid defense by the Tigers prevented Wheatland from reaching home plate in the bottom of the fourth.
Wheatland sent fly balls to Hibben in center field and Correll in right field while Greiman struck out one.
Both teams scored one run in the sixth inning. James Stienmetz drew a walk in the top of the sixth, sending Hibben home.
The Tigers’ fielders once against shut out Wheatland in the bottom of the seventh inning to clinch the win. Drew Kramer fielded a fly ball and then a line ball at center field. Grady Shields came in as relief pitcher and struck out one.
Torrington tallied five hits in the first game. Hibben set the pace offensively with three hits while Moorehouse and Kelly each collected one.
Greiman pitched the first 5.1 innings for the Tigers, striking out eight.
Game 2
The Tigers won the first inning, 1-0. Kramer scored on an error after stealing second and third base in the top of the first.
Torrington’s fielders picked up three outs in the bottom of the first. Shields struck out one batter from the mound. Wheatland sent a grounder to Hager on third and Hager tossed the ball to Kelly on first. Hibben fielded a fly ball in center field for the third out.
Wheatland turned the tables in the second inning, collecting 10 runs in the bottom while shutting out Torrington in the top.
Stienmetz and Hager both posted one hit in the second game.
Shields opened as pitcher while Kelly played relief with both striking out one.
