10 a.m. Touching the Pen, the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty. Join Chief of Interpretation & Visitor Services, Casey Osback, for a glimpse of the famous Fort Laramie Treaty through the eyes of 2nd Lieutenant Azar O' Casey, a fictional First-Person historical character who witnessed first-hand the treaty negotiations in April and May 1868. This presentation will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Historic Weapons Demonstration area (bleachers north of the Visitor Center).
12:30 p.m. As the Smoke Clears, an overview of the Springfield Rifle from 1847-1873. Please join park rangers at the Historic Weapons Demonstration area (bleachers north of the Visitor Cetner) for an overview of the Springfield Rifle from 1847-1873 with a black powder live fire demonstration following (will include Model 1847 Springfield Rifled Musket, Model 1861 Rifled Musket and the Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor).

Please join rangers at the Historic Weapons Demonstration area (bleachers north of the Visitor Center) for a presentation on artillery at Fort Laramie followed by a black powder live firing demonstration.
2 p.m. Circle of Fire, The War on the High Plains. Join Park Ranger Robert Cuevas as we go over the times Fort Laramie was in the thick of the fight. Three times soldiers from Fort Laramie left the fort and went directly into battles with wildly different results. The talk will go over the men, leaders and equipment. We will talk about the actions and the results.

Join Chief of Interpretation & Visitor Services, Casey Osback, for a history of Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day in the 19th Century. Osback will highlight the history of this very special day and historical links to the history of Fort Laramie and the various cemeteries on Post from 1849-1890.
