Meet the newest member of our team

Posted

Hello, everyone. I would like to introduce the newest member of our team here at the Torrington Telegram–me.

My name is Cynthia (Lewis) Sheeley  and I am the new general assignment reporter at our paper. I am a fellow Wyomingite and have lived in Torrington for several years.

I have always been a very creative person and love art, photography and writing. Since completing my photography degree, I have had the dream to write and take photographs to publish in magazines. After researching jobs in Goshen County, I was surprised to find a local job where I could chase that dream. I am excited to begin this journey.

Going back to my childhood, I was born in Lander and raised in Guernsey. I grew up in the country and am part of the fourth generation of my family to live in this area. I graduated Guernsey-Sunrise High School in 2012. In the following fall, I attended Eastern Wyoming College. At EWC, I was an art major and was planning on a future as an art teacher.

In 2014, I married my high school sweetheart, Chad Sheeley, from Wheatland. Later on, that year, we welcomed our son into the world. At this time, I decided to take a break from college and focus on my family.

A year later, I lost an important art mentor and began to set out on a different career path. Eventually, I settled on photography. In 2020, I started attending Southern New Hampshire University online. Last spring, I graduated with honors and received a bachelor’s degree in digital photography.

My favorite subjects to photograph have been our incredible Wyoming landscapes, wildlife and the culture of our ‘cowboy state.’ For me, Wyoming is, and will always be, my home. I’ve never wanted to be anywhere else. The beauty of our state and our unique culture are engraved in my very being. The goal of my art has always been to share that piece of me with my audience. My favorite thing is to adventure off the beaten trail and explore new areas and different points of view.

Out of the places I have lived, Torrington, so far, has been my favorite. We have a friendly and strong community here. In my opinion, Torrington also has a lot to offer for a small town, especially with the college and the wide variety of businesses.

While I love to spend time with my family and friends, I also have many other interests. Other than photography, I also enjoy drawing, painting, and creative writing. I am very outdoorsy and enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. I love animals, especially our fur babies, large and small. I have a passion for learning about archeology and paleontology subjects, but most of all my favorite is Wyoming history.

I look forward to meeting everyone and serving our great community. Please contact me at csheeley@torringtontelegram.com if you have any questions, have a story, or would like to just say hello.
