Elks host benefit dinner for newlywed recovering from sudden illness

Wyatt and Hayley Petersen’s wedding day ended with Wyatt in the hospital. Three weeks later, friends and fellow members of Torrington Elks Lodge No. 1726 gathered at the lodge for a benefit dinner to help the newlyweds through a long recovery.

Wyatt became extremely ill during the couple’s Sept. 12 wedding reception, according to the event flyer. The couple said he had an infection that turned septic.
