CHEYENNE – The Torrington Trailblazer tennis teams took on Cheyenne East and Cheyenne South on Tuesday, with the Blazer boys completing the team sweep over Cheyenne East.
Ethan Creagar and Clay Peterson held down the fort in singles action. Creagar bested Luke Macy in No. 1 singles in two sets, 7-5 and 6-3. Peterson won by the same set scores over Seth Davidson in their No. 2 singles match.
Jaysen Stitt and Mason Brummell had the biggest widest margin of victory, besting Mason Paskett and Boston Smith in No. 3 doubles, 6-1 and 6-4. Levi Wickham and Mason Weis also picked up a win in doubles action, besting Jefferson Danso and Jacob Wonzy (6-2, 7-6).
At the top of the doubles ladder, Kelly Peterson and Brian Fenn went to a decisive third set against Nolan Gerdes and Grant Redman. The Blazers won the first set 6-4, before dropping the second set 6-4. The Torrington duo managed to snag the third set, 6-1.
Kelly Peterson and Fenn were the only Blazer boys to pick up a win over Cheyenne Central earlier in the afternoon. Still in No. 1 doubles, Peterson and Fenn bested Ryan Foster and Ben Bush in two sets, 6-2 and 7-6.
Clay Peterson was close to picking up a win in his match against Ryan Stempfli. Peterson dropped the first set, 6-4, before rallying to win the second, 6-3. He went on to drop the third, 6-2. Creagar also fell in his singles match against Brian Joelson (6-1, 6-1).
