HAWK SPRINGS – GreenTree Ag (GTA) has been revolutionizing the industrial hemp industry in Wyoming for the past four years. In this short period, the award-winning GTA team has established a regional hemp innovation center, featuring a research farm and processing facility. As the company’s offerings and mission expanded, Founder and CEO Justin Loeffler recognized the need for a new name that aligned with their growing ambitions.
“We are launching products made from one of the world’s most sustainable crops — industrial hemp. Our business needs a name that reflects our dedication to growing the economy through this industry in Wyoming and throughout the region. Our new name, Wyoming Hemp Company, embodies our commitment to this important mission,” Loeffler said.
The Wyoming Hemp Company’s (WHC) innovative business model includes a premium line of animal hemp bedding that is grown regionally and processed locally in Hawk Springs. They also host an annual field day designed to showcase regional innovation in industrial hemp and new opportunities in agriculture. WHC is home to the only hemp research plot and operational milling/packaging facility on the same campus in the northern hemisphere—dedicated to benefiting farmers and local communities. One of WHC’s major goals is to create a profitable venture for farmers while generating new economic opportunities and jobs locally. Industrial hemp serves as a rotational crop that can be sold for cash, providing farmers with additional revenue streams. Industrial hemp can also be used to create endless new products ranging from construction materials to bioplastics.
In addition to boosting economic opportunities for farmers, WHC’s holistic approach to growing and processing hemp at scale aims to create jobs and stimulate the local economy. The company is also committed to researching the best hemp varieties for
the region and determining the amount of carbon sequestered during the growth process.
WHC’s community-focused mission supports farmers, the environment, and other businesses. As one of the few industrial crop processors in the nation, WHC processes hurd at quantities large enough to supply the raw materials for use in other products.
“Our team learned how to produce premium animal bedding that is the best on the market. It is ultra-clean and grown regionally. Our next launch is the HEMPBILT insulation block that can be used in the construction industry,” stated Loeffler. “As the President of the Wyoming Hemp Association, I understand the economic potential this sustainable crop can provide to our region. I also know that we are only successful if our community is successful too. We are excited to help others grow as we grow.”
