TORRINGTON – Torrington’s Logan Harris was named the 2017 boys’ Milward Simpson winner, earning him the distinction as the best boys’ athlete in the state from the 2017 graduating class.
In the 42 years the honor has been awarded, Harris is the first Torrington boy that has been recognized. Throughout his high school career, the Blazer was named all-conference three times and all-state seven times.
In football, Harris cracked onto the varsity field as a freshman and continued to develop each year, playing on both offense and defense starting as a sophomore. During his senior campaign, Harris averaged 16.8 defensive points and 6.6 tackles per game. Throughout the 2016 season, he accounted for 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, four pass breakups a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. He earned all-state twice for his work on the gridiron.
