TOPEKA, Kan. – Torrington High School and Torrington Tiger alum Cameron Murphy was selected to take part in the Mid-Plains League All-Star game, the Topeka (Kansas) Golden Giants announced on Tuesday.
Murphy, a relieve pitcher for the Golden Giants, was one of nine players from the team selected to the all-star game.
For the season, Murphy has pitched 27 2/3 innings in seven appearances. He is 1-0 with a 5.20 ERA, striking out 28. Murphy’s innings pitched total leads the Topeka team.
Topeka is currently 9-15 on the season in a seven-team summer collegiate wood bat league which includes teams from all over northeast Kansas.
The all-star game will be played in Junction City, Kansas at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 17.
