THS tennis splits with South

TORRINGTON – The Torrington tennis team opened the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon against Cheyenne South High School.

The teams split the doubleheader with the Lady Blazers picking up a 5-0 victory, while the Blazer boys fell 3-2 to the Bison.

In the girls’ sweep, No. 1 singles player Jacee Shields fell 6-1 in the opening set, but she bounced back with a pair of 6-0 wins to score the win.

In No. 2 singles, Kayla Watson got a 6-2, 6-2 win.

In doubles action, No. 1 team Kassidy Hurley and Julianna Russell split the first two sets 6-1 and 5-7 before wrapping up the win with a 6-1 set win.

On the No. 2 doubles court, Reagan Jackson and Katie Watson picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win.

The No. 3 doubles team of Marlee Foy and Madix McIntosh won 6-1, 6-0.

In the boys’ division, the Blazers fell 3-2 with the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams picking up wins.

The No. 2 team of Skyler Thomas and Daniel McGraw picked up a win 6-3, 6-2, while the No. 3 team of Bremer and Posten split the first two sets 6-3, 3-6, winning the deciding set 7-5.

In singles action, Ben Firminhac lost 6-0, 6-2, while Adam Bartlett lost 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

In the No. 1 doubles team, Jorey Ausmus and Elijah Hatch lost 6-1, 6-4.

The Blazer boys are back in action on Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Gering, Nebraska. They play Alliance, Nebraska at 1 p.m. and Gering at 4 p.m. Both teams are back in action at home on Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Cheyenne Central at 1 p.m. and Cheyenne East at 4 p.m.
