YODER – The Southeast FFA chapter has been working hard to put together and prepare teams for the Wyoming FFA State Convention. 

We had 38 members (junior high and high school) who were eager to participate and compete in livestock judging, horse judging, poultry judging, meat science, environmental and natural resources (ENR), agronomy, agriscience fair, ag mechanics, vet science, marketing plan and ag sales teams. 

The ag mechanics team placed second overall and senior member William Knowlton won high individual in the electrical and ENR categories, high senior in ag mechanics and received a $2,000 Scholarship to LCCC Trades and Technical studies, and he won the ag mechanics high individual award. Knowlton also competed in the employment skills contest and made it to the top 10. The agronomy team placed fourth overall and senior Emmett Coxbill won third high individual in the contest. 

Senior Ayden Shimic won fourth High Individual in the ag sales contest. Senior Taylar Hansen ran for a Wyoming State FFA office; sadly, she did not accomplish her goal, but she was still a promising candidate. 

The poultry judging team, composed mostly of freshman, placed 10th overall. Bailey Mehling and Lyla Wernsman competed in the state agriscience fair contest, and they placed Silver in their division. Southeast FFA also had five seniors – Alec DeMarce, Ayden Shimic, Emmett Coxbill, Taylar Hansen and William Knowlton – receive their State FFA Degrees.

The Southeast FFA annual banquet will be held on May 15 at 6 p.m. We will award members who earned degrees and awards at the state convention, hear retiring addresses from our senior officers, hear keynote speeches from past Wyoming State officers, and induct the 2025-2026 Southeast FFA officer team.
