LINGLE – The combined Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast (LFL/SE) girls wrestling team concluded the 2024-2025 regular season with a 33-24 dual victory against Cheyenne East in Lingle on Friday, February 14.

LFL/SE grapplers successfully defended their home mat with five pins and one win by decision in solid performances by each athlete competing in the dual.

“I thought our girls wrestled really well and were gritty in a lot of positions that helped us find ways to win,” coach Brandon Gifford said.

Junior Kennedi Blevins opened the action on Friday in the 110-pound match, pinning Julia Archuleta at 2 minutes, 57 seconds to score the first six points for LFL/SE.

Cheyenne East won the next match to tie the dual, 6-6, before pulling ahead, 18-6, with two open forfeits at 120 and 125 pounds, respectively.

LFL/SE recaptured the lead with three back-to-back pins. At 130 pounds, junior Avery VanGundy fought Brinnlyn Eldridge through two neck-and-neck periods. VanGundy ultimately felled her opponent with 1:17 remaining in the third period.

Junior Kaiten Schilreff made quick work of Lanie Lawson McKee in the 135-pound match with a pin midway into the first period.

Fellow junior Hallie Fuller stepped onto the mat next for the match at 140 pounds. Fuller defeated her rival by fall with three seconds to spare in the first period.

The dual reached a 24-24 stalemate when Cheyenne East won at 145 pounds.

LFL/SE regained the advantage with two decisive wins at 155 pounds and 100 pounds.

Representing LFL/SE in the 155-pound match, sophomore Trinity Martin pinned Makayla Haley 55 seconds into the first period to tally six points for the home team.

At 100 pounds, freshman Abbey Boyd topped off scoring for LFL/SE in an intense match that went into the third period. When the dust settled, Boyd led on the scoreboard against Shai Prime by an 8-5 decision.
