LFL boys third, girls fifth at Burns

BURNS – The Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) boys and girls track teams rose to the occasion despite cold, gray weather at the 2025 Burns Invitational on Thursday, April 17, collecting 39 top eight medals and four golds.

The LFL boys snagged bronze, progressing to the No. 3 spot out of 10 schools on the leaderboard with a tally of 190 points. The Lady Doggers scooped up fifth place out of 10 teams with 172 points.

Junior Jordynn Speckner garnered gold in the girls’ 1600-meters, clocking in with a time of 6 minutes, 6.77 seconds.

In the boys’ 800-meters, senior Nathan Fish captured first place, posting a time of 2:16.95. Fish reached the finish line 3.33 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Torrington.

Fellow senior Louden Bremer advanced to the No. 1 spot in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, striking gold at 42.77 seconds. Bremer beat the second-place finisher from Burns by 0.89 seconds.

Freshman Lincoln Speckner, junior Brady Cook, Bremer and senior Brody Roberts clinched gold in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:42.52. The team crossed the finish line more than four seconds ahead of Gering.

Boys top eight medalists

Senior Cooper Smith pulled into fifth place in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.36 seconds. Speckner placed eighth in the event at 12.71 seconds.

Roberts snapped up bronze in the 200-meters, clocking in at 24.52 seconds.

Representing LFL in the 1600-meters, sophomore Tyler Smith secured bronze in the event with a time of 5:28.00.

Brady Cook battled to the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard for the 110-meter hurdles, timing in at 16.86 seconds. Bremer finished fourth in the event at 18.53 seconds.

In throwing events, junior Colter McFarlin took eighth place in the shot put, hitting a mark of 36 feet, 10 ½ inches.

McFarlin went on to clinch seventh place in the discus, clearing 103-02 ½, while Cooper Smith placed eighth at 102-07 ½.

Fish progressed to the No. 6 spot on the pole vault leaderboard with a mark of 9-06.

Three Doggers broke into the top eight in the long jump, led by Bremer in fourth place at 18-02. Freshman Ethan Teeters came in sixth place in the event, reaching 17-06, while junior Rhett Clarke placed seventh at 17-05 ¾.

Hitting a mark of 36-06 ¾ in the triple jump, Teeters snagged fifth place.

The 4x100-meter relay team – Cooper Smith, Speckner, Teeters and Brady Cook – captured bronze with a time of 47.51 seconds

Tyler Smith, sophomore Trent Dennis, freshman Ivan Seals and freshman Briggs Erskine bagged third place in the 4x800-meter relay, timing in at 9:58.74.

Rounding out relay finishes, freshman Garrett Henderson, freshman Matthew Cook, Dennis and Seals pulled into sixth place in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 4:45.51.

Girls top eight

Timing the 1600-meters in at 6:36.11, freshman Cate Kinberg snagged silver. Junior Anna Frederick took fourth place in the event, posting a time of 6:52.02, while freshman Talia Kinberg placed seventh at 7:13.57.

Senior Haven Torres represented the Lady Doggers in the 3200-meters, snapping up bronze with a time of 16:52.95.

Four athletes made the top eight in the 300-meter hurdles, led by senior Jada Kaufman in third place at 52.15 seconds. Sophomore Addi Wilkins pulled into fourth place in the event with a time of 52.82 seconds. Senior Grace Gibson finished fifth, clocking in at 53.48 seconds, while freshman Madyn Clarke placed sixth at 55.92 seconds.

Gibson went on to garner eighth place in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.31 seconds.

In throwing events, senior Alicia McGraw captured sixth place in the discus at 91-01.

Fellow senior Brenly Shipp progressed to the No. 8 spot on the shot-put leaderboard with a mark of 27-06.

Frederick took eighth place in the pole vault, clearing 6-06.

Junior Kaiten Schilreff bagged sixth place in the long jump, clearing 14-06 ¼.

Addi Wilkins finished eighth in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 29-10 ¼.

The 4x100-meter relay team – sophomore Kiera Fleenor, Addi Wilkins, senior Kenzie Wilkins and Schilreff – clinched silver with a time of 56.25 seconds.

Gibson, Clarke, Kenzie Wilkins and Speckner picked up silver as well in the 4x400-meter relay, posting a time of 4:41.87.

In the 4x800-meter relay, Frederick, Cate Kinberg, Talia Kinberg and Torres placed fourth at 12:06.63.

Gibson, Kenzie Wilkins, Addi Wilkins and Speckner captured bronze in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay, timing in at 4:40.91.

• 100-meters: Amon Napier in 13th place at 13.33 seconds, Clarke 20th at 13.83, McFarlin 28th at 14.60 and Arthur Hilliard 34th at 15.68.

• 200-meters: Clarke in 13th place at 27.04 seconds, Urijah Fish 19th at 27.90 and Teeters 21st at 28.09.

• 800-meters: Erskine in 10th place at 2:46.15.

• Shot put: Cooper Smith in ninth place at 36-10 and Matthew Cook in 35th place at 27-09.

• Discus: Matthew Cook in 24th place at 79-04.

• High jump: Erskine in 13th place at 7-06.

• Long jump: Urijah Smith in 10th place at 16-10 ¾ and Henderson 31st at 9-02.

• Triple jump: Urijah Fish in 10th place at 32-10 ¾, Henderson 16th at 29-04, Erskine 17th at 27-08 and Skyler Patrick 18th at 26-07 ¾.

• 200-hurdles: Kile in 11th place at 1:05.48.

• Shot put: McGraw in 10th place at 27-00.

• Discus: Shipp in 15th place at 68-04 ½.

• Long jump: Clarke in 11th place at 13-03 and Valenza 23rd at 8-05 ½.
