TWIN FALLS, IDAHO  The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancers were in action over the holiday weekend with two games hosted by the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) on Friday and Saturday, November 29-30.

Following a point-for-point battle in the first half between EWC and CSI on Friday, the Lancers trailed by only two possessions at halftime, 34-29. CSI remained up by several possessions in a close second half to win, 77-68.

“The Lancers had a solid showing against CSI, forcing the 21st-ranked Golden Eagles into 24 turnovers while holding them to 25 percent from the arc,” coach Bill Engel said. “The Lancers trailed by four at halftime and had chances in the second half, but CSI’s 21-28 effort at the free throw line was a deciding factor.”

On Saturday, the Lancers came up short against Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC), 84-56.

“The Lancers jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Saturday only to see the (CNCC) Spartans take charge of the game,” Engel said. “EWC was solid as they held the Spartans to 28 percent shooting from the arc but CNCC forced the Lancers into 24 turnovers and a cold night of shooting.”
